Small Groups

If you didn’t know, my role has changed a little at GracePoint. While I still handle the marketing and communications side of the ministry, I also am the pastor over LifeGroups (our small group ministry). About 50% of our adult attendance are involved in groups that meet throughout the city. That is a pretty awesome deal.

Tonight, as I was driving home from a LifeGroup leader training meeting, I p pulled down my street and noticed several cars in front of a neighbor’s house. As I slowly drove past the house, and looked inside (the door was open and I am nosey, so I looked) I noticed several couples with what looked like books open and they were laughing.

It had all of the characteristics of a small group, but since I didn’t go in (I did drive back by) I am not positive, but I am pretty sure. It’s pretty cool as I thought about small groups meeting all over the area and people talking about God. It had never really hit me until tonight, when I saw other people doing it.

It just gave me a quick glimpse of what God’s Kingdom really looks like.

Random, I know, but thought I would share.

Drives me nuts

I am sure that there are a lot of things that I do that drive others nuts, but this one is a peeve of mine. We have this awesome Connections director at GracePoint that is great with plugging people into ministry BUT afraid to take the leap and join Facebook. I have given her a hard time about and try to press her, but was wondering if you guys could help make that happen.

Please if you get time today…email TRICIA EVERY at tricia@gracepoint.com and tell her Terry Johnson has asked you to convince her into getting a Facebook…

There is a prize involved…I promise. Here is the catch – I will ask her which email convinced her to do it and will award my prize that way.

Let’s see if we can get her to do it! Thanks!

Need Direction

Sometimes we need direction in life…I prefer the “nudge” approach. This is the approach where you may be encouraged to do something without being forced to…this will help explain it …

SMALL IDEA. BIG IMPACT. (LESS MESS)

Sometimes I need a target to shoot for!

AWKWARD!

Man I have definitely been in a few awkward situations in my lifetime. I am one of those that tend to freeze up and shut up when things get weird. Don’t know if you saw this last night, but there was definitely an awkward situation on Letterman last night…

Comedy is always the best remedy. And the line “we owe an apology to farrah fawcett” line at the end – is in reference to David claiming she was his worst interview.

What do you do in awkward situations?

Hmmm…

You know when you get little spasms or twitches in your eye or on your face and most people say it is related to stress? I have one in my left butt cheek – what is that caused from?

On My mind…

I have suddenly received an urge to go on a missions trip. If you didn’t know – I did some mission work with a cool organization called YWAM. I would love to organize a team to go overseas or to do one awesome micro-missions trip in the states…any GracePointer’s interested?

Rachel and I decided to join a lifegroup last Fall for the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace study. The study was okay – Rachel liked it more than me – but it was nice to get connected to a lifegroup. We have had some really cool conversations in our group this semester. I am so thankful that we decided to do it.

I have been reading a book called Death by Love by Mark Driscoll. It has been especially eye-opening as it has been a book comprised of letters Pastor Mark has written to some of the people in his church with some major issues or questions. There are several things that I have felt God speaking to me through this book.

I wasn’t really interested in the Superbowl…until the end of the game.

I have been enjoying the team of people God has called together to be on staff at GracePoint. I feel like we are all growing closer and becoming focused on the ONE vision that God has called us to…REACHING LOST PEOPLE. It’s cool that we are seeing this happen every week at GP.

I have loved getting to know MORE of the people who call GracePoint home. This is an amazing church. God is getting ready to do something huge.

Every time I watch Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, my stomach growls like crazy. Half of the stuff on the show looks terrible, but then there are dishes here and there that look freakin awesome!

I am going to try an interactive study here on the blog soon – I would love it if you can join in on it. I’ll let you know when I am ready.

This is going to be a great week…I hope.
